Back-to-Back Awards for Employee Satisfaction
The Canopy team is excited to announce that we’ve won two Comparably Awards for our company culture in 2023: Best Career Growth and Best Leadership Teams. This is the second year the Canopy team has cast their vote for “Best Career Growth” amongst small to mid-sized companies across the United States.
Comparably’s annual awards are derived from millions of ratings from employees who anonymously rate their professional development opportunities on Comparably over a 12-month period (May 2022 through May 2023).
Best Career Growth 2023: This award recognizes the top-rated companies for professional development, according to those who know best – current employees.
Best Leadership Teams 2023: This award recognizes the top-rated leadership teams, including CEOs, executive leadership, and direct managers.
This is all attributed to the great feedback that we’ve received from Canopians on the Comparably surveys. We won back-to-back awards for Career Growth, 2022 and now in 2023! I am very grateful to work with such amazing folks.

Highlighting Team Growth within Canopy
Someone at Canopy once said that the best way to be a 10x engineer is to make 10 other people in the company 2x more productive. Kevin Pamaran and Vlad Nemes not only fully embraced this thinking, but went above and beyond on this with behind-the-scenes efficiency improvements for different teams at Canopy. LoanLab is something that Kevin came up with and SafeGuard [our enhanced testing framework] was Vlad’s idea.
[Previous engineer turned technical product manager], Jillian Funes puts her engineering mindset and skills to use at Canopy. She’s a builder at heart from her background and knows how to take advantage of her career transition to create asymmetric strengths for herself as a PM. She dove deep into learning the field of product management through books, podcasts, articles, and more. From there, she sought out opportunities to apply things she learned within the day to day as a business.
Watching Andrea Milian’s growth here at Canopy has truly been one of the highlights of my career. I still remember her initial interview like it was yesterday. Her drive, ambition, and positivity was infectious. It was obvious to the whole team she had greatness busting at the seams. In one year’s time, Andrea has gone from a Product Design Intern working on smaller more focused UI projects, to now fully owning large business-critical design projects that spans a wide range of design disciplines such as market research, user experience & testing, prototyping, interface design, and most notably: design systems. Her attention to detail and drive to always be growing is now imprinted into the DNA of Canopy’s design organization. She has officially surpassed the sound barrier and is well on her way to design stardom!
